Another rug purchased, hard to photograph as the color changes with the angle of the light, it goes from bright to washed out depending on the side viewed from, with the flash, the one photo captures both variations of the colors. Ebay listed as Bidjar, size 2'4x3'6, (for a high traffic area), not super thick, but seems sturdy, may have been starched a little, a couple stiff areas on the sides. Any comments? P.S. This is my second to last purchase for awhile unless I can find a real nice (small) esfahan for a decent price (at this point paying a lot for a rug is out of the question, as I have a pack of dogs that ruin everything I get.)

Bidjar would be a very heavy (long) double knot. If this is one of the heaviest rugs you've ever had --- it's likely one.

Check www.spongobongo.com --- Barry is discussing Bidjars (second video down).

He gives good guidance on what they are, and what they look like.

I paid $200 which included free shipping and paid shipping back if I don't like it. I almost wanted to send it back, but figured I keep it to stop myself from the endless search for perfection (which is out of my price range). There was another rug I would have rather bought, but the seller didn't respond to any of my questions, so I settled for this one which was my second choice (I was limited by the size I needed, price & durability) for a high traffic area.

basing on the pictures, it's a Bijar Area Rugs which are mostly considered village rugs because whether woven in the town of Bijar itself or its surrounding villages, they are woven inside houses rather than workshops. The pattern of Bijar rugs is a combination of curvilinear and geometric with curvilinear being dominant.

Are there any Bijars (and generally any hand-knotted rugs, for that matter) that are not area rugs?

Nice looking rug, fredgrower.
