Origin
The rug is a persian Kerman, the label was right. Kerman is a city in south east Iran. It is also the capitol of the Province Kerman. It is located in the mountains west of the desert Lut, one of the hottest and dryesd places on earth. The soil contains a lot of nitrat / salt. These minerals are in high amount in the plants the sheep eat. Therefore wool from this area is dry and of lower quality. Better Kerman are made of wool from other areas.
Quality
As mentioned before, it is a lower price quality. The third picture shows a detail of the border. Look at the light blue border - the lines going upwards are not clear, it looks like it is in low pixel. This is because the weaver used a trick in weaving called djufti. Djufti comes from djoft (double). It means the weaver is making the knot around four instead of two warps, this doubles the speed the rug grows on the loom. The wool is in typical quality for these Kerman rugs. The colors are very bright, this is a sign that the rug may be made in the early 1990`s.
Price
The value of this rug is not so high, but 200 US$ was a very good price. Usually rugs in this quality sell at around prices starting at 800 US$ in onlineshops for a rug that is clean, washed and in quite good conditon.

A Kazwin is a rug made in the city of Kazwin. This city is located 100 miles north west of the iranian capitol Tehran on the street to Tabriz. Kazwin rugs became very popular in the 1930. They copied a design from the city of Kashan, that was in very high demand at that time. Since there where not enough loomms in Kashan to produce all the rugs needed, business man set up looms in other cities than Kashan to produce enough rugs in the same design. Due to the better wool from the area of Kazwin, these rugs are of very high quality. Also most rugs made in Kashan are with red field, blue corners, medaillon and border. Kazwin usually are with dark blue field, red medaillon, corners and border. I guess therefore the tip of rugpro was Kazwin, since it would fit into this sheme. But Kazwins would not be of so low quality and color. Also the ink blue is typical for Kerman.
Single weft means that after one row of knots made into the loom, one weft is woven into the construction. This is typical for lower quality or nomadic rugs. Most rugs produced have two or three wefts, woven into the construction after the row of knots.
