But estimate $ 120,000 - $ 130,000 !!! Why they decided to estimate it so expensive? What do you think

very odd! not sure on the market for these now so much, but normally maybe a $4,000 - 6,000 for an auction estimate? maybe just trying to make some hype. a lot of smaller auction houses do that

Probably a kind of public relation for the Lavian store. Otherwise i do not understand. Its not the kind of rug anybody buy for that price, i agree with rugpro, about 4.000,-USD.

Also the other two rugs offered at the same sale - I would not buy the Kuba and the Sirjan for $ 200 TOGETHER.

This Afshar for a price of 35.000 USD? Where is the problem, if there is no hole or damage i will buy...it´s a very good catch!

you are right its a beautiful silk souf, if its actually authentic lavian of kashan i dont see any problem with the starting bid but i think a tad bit lower would be more fair.

It did not sell. The price was 20 times over value.

it seems you don't like LAVIAN'S rug
have you ever seen them?
i saw a gold color LAVIAN and it's unbelievable
i recomand you to see MR. AMIR ALI JAVADIAN rugs pictures from DAFINEH MUSEUM in iran in fall of 1993
you may change your mind
not all soufs rugs are the same
i wish i had your knowledge in persian rug you are full of informations
i always look at your comments

Sorry if I was a little fast and short in my last post. There was no bid due to the far too high price. I do like and collect all interesting rugs, Lavians included.

I did not want to insult the art of Lavian, but I am sure the price is far away from what anyone would pay for this rug. Among this rug there was a Sirjan Afshari for 35000 USD in the same auction, that nobody would buy for 200. Im am sure rugpro was right in his post about the hype.

I am glad you enjoy my posts. Sometimes I think they are to long. But I rather explain my ideas than just trow in a few arguments.

During Iranian New Year, i will send (my brother who is a rug dealer in Bazaar e Farsh e Tehran in Paachenaar) to Kashan to get some info about Josef Lavian and his works
who they were and why the left Iran.What happend to their rugs.We are not from Kashan but my cousin's husbands are.
So, hopefuly i have somenew info about them soon . bokhara ,very nice rug.
kad ,i love your rug but i wish it was bigger.
