It is a very nice old Qum from the early 1970`s or before. From the picture it is in extraordinary condition, fringes look original and sides (shirazi) is not worn - probably on the wall most of the time. I think this must be considered in the price. I have seen pieces in bad condition sell on ebay for around 600 - 800 $. If I would take this rug as a trade in I would offer 1000$ because of its great condition. I think this is not cheap, but fair.

The size is probably closer to 3.5x5.5. 4x5 would be kind of weird, not that it matters too much. In the early 1980s, these rugs went for $3500-$4000. Because that olive green/yellowy color that is in the border isn't selling well right now, you can expect to pay $1500-2000 for this type of rug in a shop. KAD is right, $1000 would be a good offer or jumping off point.

...thanks for the quick responses...sounds good, i really have no idea what they're looking for, so i think i'll ask them to set the price and go from there. it's not exactly all that appealing to me, i would only be interested if it was a great, great deal...

...thanks again for your comments!
