A while back an Iranian gentlemen showed me a Tabriz pictorial hand knotted rug that almost didn't look like a rug. I later found out it was a digitally made from an actual picture. It was a finely done rug, although not that high kpsi, but I'm not sure how much I liked it since it seemed almost artifical and not like a rug.

Today I came across this which was described as a Afghanistan wool rug. The difference in color from the change in view, picture 2 and 3,almost make it look sik, although that was not the claim. I have asked for pictures of the back.

Is this another digitial produced rug, and would it come from outside Iranian? He is the original owne. Also, How desireable are pictorial rugs like this?
I found it interesting.

Thanks for your comments.

After first posting I was given two pictures from the back.

looks to possibly be made by hand from afghanistan. You can tell by the purple weft and the newer looking contstruction with Indian like kilim at the bottom. not the best investment because these don't sell very well here in the states, especially rugs from afghanistan with iranian historical importance. my guess is this may be a scene from persian poetry, in which case most people would would pay a premium would be those who appreciate the literature.

Thanks, RugPro, much appreciated. I'm not investing in it, but I was curious about the process. Looking at ebay I see alot of Tabriz digital pictorial, but I didn't know that Afghan rugs also can use this techique.
