I size you have quoted appears to be too wide when you look at the piece. Anyway, I think it is a Marand from Northwest of Iran, not too far away from Tabriz and these are sometimes sold as Tabriz. They do have a low knot count but are still quite durable carpets. Unfortunately this design and colour is not so much in fashion these days and consequently, their market is a bit weak. In a private exchange, I would have thought anything from $300 to $450 would be good.
The colour of the carpets depends on the demand. In the past 15 to 20 years the majority of colours have been cream and earthy colours. Long before red was a warm welcoming colour and that was the colour that was mainly used. They still say laying out the red carpet. Oscars, state visits etc.
