This rug does not have a fringe. I would like to know where it was made, age, and possible value. Looks like a crab and cross design to me. What is it really? Found this rug with two others at a local Farm auction. Thanks again for any information you can give me. The rug is 63" x 132". kansas1412 attached the following image(s):

It is a Luri rug from West of Iran. It does have a fringe but knotted to a Kilim, which makes it more secure. The little triangle weaves of colour are known as Aroos Baft, which means woven by a bride. She would have woven that as part of her dowry. I don't think it is more than 20 years old and the colours appear to be all chemical. The auction value would be around $300. Thanks so much for the info. That is very exciting to me. This is a rug I will keep. Can you explain some of the symbolism? Are they spiders on the border?

This is a village/ Tribal piece. The motifs in the border are stylised flower heads, which lends itself to this type of weaving. This is repeated to different degrees in the field motifs as well. First Floor, unit 9 1 Chandos Road London NW10 6NF UK www.sharafiandco.com
