Hi All

This is actually my first post. I recently purchased a rug on an online auction (Eldred's) and was told it was a Bidjar and just wanted some verification on where it was made and a ballpark on value. Size is 7'9"x 8'1", I would describe pile as thinker than normal

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Your rug is a hand-knotted rug, made in India in the 1980/90´s. The design was taken from the persian (iranian) Bidjar rugs and re-designed. The quality of these rugs is pretty good, but not comparable to persian Bidjar rugs. The quality of your rug is a so called 9/60, which is a medium fine quality for Indian Bidjars. A new rug like this would be somewhere around 900 - 1200 USD. Considering the age and that it is most likely in unwashed condition, I would say if you paid 150 - 250 USD it would be ok.
