Is there any significance to the colours of weft threads? My modern Kolyia rug has reddish-pink wefts, while my "Keshan" (modern - Ardekan perhaps?) has blue wefts. Obviously they are not visible on the top surface and barely visible on the bottom. Are they coloured differently from the white warps simply to make the weaving easier, so that the weaver can more easily see the warps when he/she is tying the knots? And is the colour deliberately consistent in a given city, village or region just because of tradition?
