I recently purchased this rug (along with another, smaller rug) at a local auction for around $150. The auction catalogue described it as a Tabriz. Is that correct? How old is it?

The size is 7'3"x4'8".

Thanks in advance for your insights.

Interesting ... selvage doesn't look Persian and the flat knots on the back with dull wool don't look Persian, and the way the knots are tied off with the long fringes don't look Persian, but it has some writing in ink on the back...usually when you see writing on the back of the rug, it may be PAK or Indian, but do I see the Arabic number 5 followed by Farsi script on the back?? The design is Tabriz with some additoonal twists. I agree with Nick.
