Hi! I hope someone can help us with some rug info. My mom has a rug that she may need to sell but it's so large it's not feasible to take it around anywhere. It is appx 12' x 18'. It was appraised in the 70's but that paperwork has been lost.
All we know is that it was purchased in the 1950's from a store in San francisco called sloan's and when her parents bought it it wasn't new. I guess that would make it 65+ yrs old.
I have a couple pictures I will attach. I'm just wondering what it is and ballpark what the value might be. Just don't want someone to take advantage of her. Also who should appraise it- a rug dealer or is there another option?
Thanks in advance!!!
Stacy

All the photos you have attached are the same which makes it that much more difficult to say much about the piece. Anyway it appears to be a Tabriz. I think when your parents bought it this piece would have been almost new. It would have been very much in demand at the time. However, interior design and colours have changed quite a lot. I think in an auction you might get $1000 to $2000 for it but if somebody wants it privately then you can get a lot more for it. But keep in mind that I am saying the above from the one photo of part of the rug.

Thank you. They were definitely all different pictures and the file size is different on all the files so I'm not sure why it is only displaying one photo. Ill try to add a few here.
