Hi,
I am trying to identify this rug I purchased this morning. I think it is Persian and have a couple of thoughts but I will see what the experts think. Size is about 51" X 75". Seems to have some age, semi-antique maybe? 1950's or earlier? As for condition, it was attacked by some fool with a vacuum cleaner so there are problems on the ends and the selvage. The pile is pretty good. Might be dirty or tea dyed? Looks like cotton warp and weft. I thought it was pretty and the cost was minimal. Please let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Bruce

Machine made wih Kerman floral design. I am not familiar with Karasran rugs but this is what I would think it could be.

Please take another look. I took some close-ups today that show the structure better. Is this machine made? I was certain it was handmade when I bought it. Did I goof?

Hi,
I agree with KAD. Its machine made... probably Karastan... Notice also how the weave looks like the warps are running the wrong way on the rug. Also, there is a fuzziness in the pile. It has all of the colors of a Kerman, mille Fleur... don't know the age.

Hi,
No question it is machine made. Sure fooled me though. I saw the warps and wefts. And the pile in the damaged area pulled out in little curled pieces. For me, now, I look at the absolute straightness of the rows of pile, and the uniformity of the pile on the back, could only have come from a machine. That's what I get for buying rugs with a flashlight in the morning. Fortunately it did not cost me much. I can probably sell it for more than I paid.
Thanks,
Bruce
