Took the rug discussed here:http://forum.rugrag.com/yaf_postst345_Hand-Knitted-rugany-valueor-info.aspx
back to the antique store I purchased it,for more info. The elderly lady who originally got it from the estate sale was in,and told me it came from a home in Shaker Heights(area of Beautiful big historic homes by Cleveland-over 70% all homes listed in the National Register of Historic Places)Stated it was Victorian, all hand done-.She said it was called "chain stitch"..very difficult to do-time consuming, esp. for a piece as large as this.Stated Bows in the motif very "Victorian era".Price tag in her shop was $400.00....daughter gave it to me PLUS matching runner for $30.00.
Does this sound like it's true?THAT old?
