I recently purchased a small oriental rug I spotted at a local antique store to add to my personal collection. I would appreciate the help of experts on this forum to identify its approximate age, origin and approximate value. Here are some details:

Size: 2' 10 1/2" X 2' 3 1/2"

KPSI: 256 (approximate)

Colors: 8

good rug - very pretty. knot count is a little lower than the 250 estimate since both nodes are exposed.

It is a nice piece. Looks like 1940s Saruk. While it has a relatively good pile it has some condition problems with losses to corners and ends.

My thanks to you both for your helpful comments. I had been hoping it would not be identified as a Sarouk, since I seem to have a strong attraction to them, perhaps somehow imprinted in my DNA, and was hoping to hear it was another type I don't have in my modest collection (I have four) While I saw many other Oriental rugs that day, this one really "spoke to me." The photos don't really do justice to the depth and intensity of the colors.
