It is a reproduction of an Aubusson design. It appears to me to be woven in Northwest Iran, possibly Ardebil. It would have been around $3000 to $4000 new. I think it was woven about 10 to 20 years ago. Now I would have thought it should bring about $1000 in an auction, but because it is a Persian reproduction of a French peace it will have a bit of difficulty in an auction.

I suppose it depends on the Label. If it is from a very famous designer it can help but it will not effect the price that much. Certainly no significantly and in the case of this particular rug I would say not at all.

I agree with some of what Sharafi says although I think the structure of the rug may hint to several other weaving countries of which include China (160 line) and Pakistan early higher grade 1980's.

I don't really provide values on the forum anymore. Not necessarily on a carpet like this, but often, value needs to have some research and a lot of considerations evaluated including individual's needs. Also, the threads tend to get dated but remain indexed on the internet. After looking more closely at this rug, it appears as though there is some blooming to the pile, which will affect value, and the rug is likely in the range of Chinese 150 line perhaps. Remember the estimator does not have eyes, and private party value would be considerably different.
