My question is the age of this pristine fine tekke small rug. I realize it is very difficult to tell the age of a tekke rug.
I've personally sold a new looking ensi to a well known tekke expert
He later confirmed it was an exceptional re-1880 ensi.
Condition tells me its a new rug, and it probably is.
It has sparse drawing, with only nine guls, a star border, unusual for a small tekke gurbaghe minor guls, and very finely knotted maybe indicating it was indeed a dowry and not commercial rug (or the fact that later rugs were more finely woven.) All natural dyes.
All of these can be a modern copy with early elements so I have no idea.
Any thoughts? I'm not claiming it's old. I just don't know.
