Hello forum, long time no post, but that doesn't mean I have not been looking.

There is an upcoming sale that I am contemplating making a 2.5 hour drive to see. There are several rugs I am interested in and am including a couple; based on what you see, are any of these worth the drive and what would be a reasonable price to pay.

Thank you in advance!

Maybe two good pieces here, and if the condition and price are acceptable they would be worth it.

Make sure everything is still there before you head out, and in fairness they should have an asking price on each which you should know before going.

Thanks, Rugpro, as always. So, that being said, which ones do you think are worth it (I couldn't tell from your post) and what is a good price??? And yes, I will call to make sure, however, these estate sales usually do not tell prices prior too, at least in our area they don't...

Thanks again; I love this forum!!!

I no longer speak to the value of carpets on this forum. Valuation requires considerations that are best seen in person. Even with online photos, there still needs to be some form of market reference and understanding of current prices which can take time and research. My objective here is to help inform buyers and sellers.

My opinion is, however, cautious with these rugs for pet stains - also, image quality is quite low, so don't hold this too high:

Rug01 - nothing spectacular, perhaps a few issues to be wary of. Be wary of coarse wool and weave on this piece.

02 - if this is a mohajeran sarouk of age, the shade of light blue border is considered somewhat unique and desirable. some condition issues could be forgiven if this is the case.

03 - sarouk runners have a market price, although careful for anything particularly coarse, or rugs with damage. Also note lower end of the photo shows a slight yellowing which may be of concern. Do not apply significant value to this rug if it has condition issues which are not easily reversible, or lower grade characteristics.

04- clockwise - the far rug under the bed may be a farahan or josan sarouk. Cautious on anything with particularly garish colors, or brittle foundation. the rug to the right is nothing great. the carpet closer to the camera appears to be an early lilihan variety. may be a good rug.

05 - may be a gem. If the asking price is reasonable this rug alone may be worth the trip by itself provided condition, colors, quality and age are what they may appear. The rug should have a thin character and somewhat rigid construction. This would be considered a hard-to-find and unique color and good design carpet - however, it may not be particularly valuable. Gem meaning - it's a diamond in the rough. The market value in my opinion has likely not caught up to the uniqueness if it is what it appears.

06 - blue sarouks are always good, although caution on condition issues or loss of rows to knotting on formal style carpets.
