Dear All,
I am a new member of RugRag forum. I want to enquire about the value of a 100yrs plus persian carpet of Yarkand origin(most probably), measuring bit more than 600 square feet (24.5 by 24.5 ft), torn at 3 edges (pieces intact), needs cleaning; it has ben damaged by water in one corner; which I have cleaned as yet; so don't know if damage done there is permanent or not. This rug has been in my family(Nawab -Ruler- of Princely State of Amb in Frontier region of Pakistan)long time now and i would be thankful to know of its market value today. I have a few other persian rugs from same time period. As I am not a rug expert; would be glad to know anything else about the colours, origin and design of the rug. your help in this regards would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

Without seeing the weave on the back there is some difficulty in identifying. The condition as you note is somewhat problematic, although with documented lineage, photographs and provenance, this could very well be a carpet worth while of preservation. Do you have additional photographs you would not mind photographing?

Thank you so much; I will photograph it more and attach soon. What price range would a carpet of this condition and type be in?

Here are a few photographs of the back of the carpet. I placed a coin(Pakistani-which is same size as a US quarter) so that you get an idea of Kpsi.

There is a market for these rugs of such big sizes, although it has to have the proper exposure and condition is quite important in general for rugs. The back of the rug says to me this is perhaps a Turkish carpet. There appears to be some moth etching on the back in addition to those on the front.

Thank you so Rugpro ; hypothetically what price range would this rug fall in; 1) in condition as it is 2) if I get it restored properly.
