Hi, I wonder if anyone can ID this smaller rug. Size is about 1.57mx1.04m. The seller claims it is 100% pure silk. I will post the photo for knot count, as soon as I get it. Thanks in advance for your help. Ben File Attachment(s): Ben attached the following image(s):

I don't know about silk, as it doesn't appear to be one and I doubt that it is. However, it is a very good quality "Sherekat Farsh" ( Iranian National Weaving Co). They usually use very good materials, vegetable dyes and very good weavers and their pieces fetch a premium in Iran. This seems to be one of thei Zabol productions. The design is Saruk but I think the place of weaving is Zabol in Southeast Iran. Very good piece First Floor, unit 9 1 Chandos Road London NW10 6NF UK www.sharafiandco.com

Thank you Sharafi & Co. I did get a detailed photo of the fringe and selvage. The seller claims that it is a Qom rug.

Well that is a very useful photo. It is all silk. It does have a Sherekat e Farsh signature and the tag on the back is the original Sherekat Farsh tag. It tell you it was woven in Qasvin hence the similarity with Kashan. I don't know why the owner insists it is a Qum because in my view this is much better than a Qum of the same age. That is a very good piece and has a an id tag which is very unusual for rugs, but something that Sherekat Farsh does with all its pieces First Floor, unit 9 1 Chandos Road London NW10 6NF UK www.sharafiandco.com

Thanks again Sharafi & Co.
What would be a reasonable price for this?

It is difficult to tell but I think its 20-30 years old. For sake of completeness on the back it does also say Qum but neither the weave nor the design is Qum. But it also says area of weaving Qasvin. First Floor, unit 9 1 Chandos Road London NW10 6NF UK www.sharafiandco.com

A beautiful rug - Sharafi&Co already explained the quality. I also underline it is much better than many commercial produced qum rugs. Congratulations.
