Need help estimating value of a rug and confirming identity

Hi,

Hope you can help I have my parents rug. I’ve been told that it’s a Pakistani BOKARA and that it could have been made any time in the past four decades. It is a hand woven interpretive CPU of an old central Asian design. Can anyone confirm this? Also need approx. value.

- Actual amount paid (not stated value): unsure I believe they paid between $5,000 - $7,000 for the 3 rugs, again in not positive it could have been $1,500

- I’d like to get an approx. value if I were to sell it privately.
Age: Purchased new approx. 25 years ago
Dimensions: 13’ x 10’

Also have 2 smaller area rugs that measure 31”x55”. They were purchased at the same time and are the same style.

Hi Brenakie,
Welcome to the forum.

Looks like you correctly identified your rug as a PAKistan Bokhara and its age is from the late 1980's to 1990.
This is a large one and and based on its sq. footage, it retails for $1500 to $2000. These rugs are not rare and can be found in many different color combinations of peach, violet, ivory, gray, green , and blue... lots of colors.
It is made from synthetic (not vegetable dyes) which are harsher than the vegetable dyes which usually insures that the colors are fast (no runs). The colors may have been muted after the weaving. You indicate that it has 250 KPSI which is pretty high for these rugs but some of the finer ones do have higher knot counts. The design is based on the TEKKE faced rug design which originated in Turkmenistan-- GOLS elements with other geometric designs. Sometimes the rugs appear to have more knots that they have because of the type of knot used. Did the rug come with a KPSI count of 250 or did you count it yourself.
Bokhara is a term commonly used to describe Tekke-faced rugs. There is a car touche on your rug with a signature??? which I cannot read, but it may reflect the a commercially created PAK Bokharra by a Mr. Mehta and his family who turn out many of these. Hope this is helpful.

Hi
I agree with Cartona they are Pakistan rugs
In England they have very little value and will never appreciate in value sorry
even though they are well made (blame the collectors)
