Would like info on this Rug 9.5 feet in width and 12 feet in length.. My friend inherited from his Family in the mid 90's and the only info he was given was that it had been appraised for $7500.00 EricMpls attached the following image(s):

pics 3-4-5 are from the back side. The tag is morn to where it's not readable. pic 6 shows a tear the size of a penny. pic 7 shows about a 6" area where it is frayed. The rug is very heavy.

it also looks like there may be some fading and a small patch. Are you able to take a photograph of this rug with even light out doors?

The carpet does not look faded but shadows from the lighting..cant take it outside (2 feet of snow on the ground) In this pic it looks darker in the center just to the left(I circled it in the 2nd pic) but its just a shadow... EricMpls attached the following image(s):

These are helpful. So the rug appears to have some wear appropriate to age and average use. what would you like to know about it, what are your plans? are you looking to sell, are you looking to have a replacement value,

Once I figure out some info about it and what it's approximate value may be put it up on Ebay at about 10% below its value. After being told it may be 1920 Chinese I surfed the internet and found similar designs in 1920's Chinese Peking rugs. Also to find out if it's hand woven he etc and what the number on tag on the back means.

Personally I wouldnt read too much into the tag. Like any vintage or antique piece condition is very important and unfortunately your piece is not in good condition and it is very difficult to repair these kind of rugs. I do not think you would get more than $400 in an auction for this piece. First Floor, unit 9 1 Chandos Road London NW10 6NF UK www.sharafiandco.com

Would agree with Sharafi & Co, cannot see it selling at more than a few hundreds dollars, especially given the condition.

An old Chinese rug with beautiful colors, but I agree with everyone else on the value of this piece as it is not in great condition.
