we got this rug @ 8 years ago for $350 in an antique store in Northern Michigan-- we just love the colors--- It is in very good condition-- there has been some repairs to the rug at the end. It seems the blue border at one end was removed.. We use it in our vestibule also. Please tell us what you think it is. It had been marked down from $4000 to the $350 offer we made. cartona attached the following image(s):

It is a Hamedan rug from the village of Alamdar. Even though I don't know the size but appears to be 5x3 at most 7x5 and I doubt it's that big then it would have never been worth $4000. It is unfortunate that some dealers have to resort to this sort of misinformation for the sake of a sale. But the price you paid for it is a fair price so at least you did not overpay. I completely misread the $4000 as 400. That does seem quite high of a replacement value. knot count appears to be under 50 knots an inch - looks like 6 on the vertical warps and 7 on horizontal. This would be considered a relatively coarse rug. Age is probably 1960's.
