Hi there,

First post! I am an art history post-graduate student studying primarily decorative arts from the 16th to 19th centuries - but I know next to nothing about rugs!

I inherited this rug from a great-Aunt a couple of years back, know next to nothing about it aside from the usual (it's been in the family etc).

I'd be keen to find out as much about it as possible - it's not in great condition so value wise I'm not too fussed,

Ooops, Sorry I forgot to add the rug is 91.5cm x 167cm (about 3' x 5.4').

Welcome to the forum. this appears to be a hand knotted rug probably no older than the late 1980's.The design is a new interpretation of an older turkmen design, but the area it was likely woven in is probably around Lahore Pakistan.
