Hello! Can someone kindly guide me on identifying this rug?

It's approximately 70" x 40". I picked it up at an estate sale on Long Island this summer. I'm pretty certain it's hand knotted. thank you so much!

Nice antique hand knotted Persian rug. I will not attempt to ID, however, in case you don't get an answer here, the best ID will come from someone who can see and feel the rug. It is a nice enough rug to get checked out.

Living where you are there must be a local expert who can do both. Be aware, many people call themselves experts, but are not. Many store owners are not collectors, but only business people. Check to see if the store stocks true antique rugs. Sometimes a business washing oriental rugs for decades will have an expert simply by the number of rugs they have handled.

By all means have confidence in the advice of one of the experts on this site, but in case you don't get an answer, try plan B.

It is a very pretty Persian Zanjan Rug. I would guess it is about 100 years old and really lovely design. You have got a good rug there but you should really have it restored it they dont charge you too much. In any event make sure you do the sides and edges if they need doing so the rug doesnt unravel
