I am considering the purchase of this 10'x7'(approx.)rug.
I am told by the seller that it is from Kunduz, Afghanistan and is around 40 years old.
I have seen similar rugs, but this one is a bit different around the edges and seems more supple than others (see rolled up photo).
Any information and insight on the style, design, origin, age, construction, and recommendations on a fair purchase price for this rug is appreciated.
Apologies for the poor photo quality.
Thanks again to the contributors who share their knowledge and experience on this site.

Found a similar rug posted here:

So this is probably a Khoja Roshnai, but my other questions still remain.

I think that's more the name given to the very small gul medallion design. I'd say it's a Kunduz or Ankhoy quality.

What are they asking? Are you buying retail, privately, or in Afghanistan?

Thanks for the reply Little Persia.
I have not heard Ankhoy mentioned, but there is a language barrier to overcome. The sellers English is much better than my Pashto or Dari.
His asking price started at around £2400, which seemed very high for here.
Is there any more that you can tell me about this rug? I've never heard of Ankhoy before.
Thanks again!

Andkhoy is a grade below Kunduz. Not sure from the images which it is. I'd say that's far too much (is that dollars or pounds?) although when Googling Khoja Roshnai I noticed a blog giving advice to soldiers that they $2000 would be a good price over there and $7000 retail in the US... not so sure about that myself.

We're selling one here in the UK at that size for £2400.
