The word Mosal (or Mussel, Musal) is used in the persian rug Dealers language to describe a rug made in western persia in the destrict of hamadan. It doesn´t directly mean it was made in Hamadan but is Hamadan Typus. Usually Musels are about 200 x 100 cm or about 6-7 ft Long and 3 - 4 ft wide. Usually of low knotcount, bright Colors and low grade wool. When they are newly produced they have a high pile. Typical is a thick warp of Cotton and often blue or Brown wefts, also thick Cotton. Most Musels I know where made in the 1960 - 1980´s due to a large demand in western countries for original persian rugs at affordable Prices.
