Hello all from North Carolina Charlotte Area. My wife and I are looking for a couple of handmade Oriental rugs for our home. Some where in the ball park of 7'X 11" give or take a couple of feet.
Having never bought a truly hand made Oriental style rug ive been trying to educate myself quite a bit. However I was wondering if it is possible to get a quality, bold color, Medalion style handmade, handknotted rug for $1000 or under? I will be paying a visit to some of my area rug dealers but have also been looking on ebay. Some of the prices seem a little suspect. Do you all have any advice for ebay shoppers beyond whats listed on Rugrag, or know of reputable ebay dealers?

If you dont know your rugs then it is always best to stick to your reputable dealer. He has the knowledge and can guide you. If you do not find what you are looking for the next best thing would be a reputable and I stress reputable auction house. That can be a bit of gamble if you dont know your rugs. Most important is that you buy what you like and if you cannot find what you have budgeted for do not compromise with something that will do but that you like, if you know what I mean.
