Hi there,

I have a rug I received from a college friend, probably in the 90s, and I know nothing about it, but that it doesn't fit in my home and was my friends family rug in his Dallas home. I was talking with my mom and she got excited to have it and I wanted to learn a little about the rug so I can tell her when I send it to her. I don't know if it's hand knotted, tufted (or the difference), or machine made. I don't know how to tell what it's made of. I've always thought it was pretty and couldn't get rid of it.

So I'm asking you to let me know what region, age (I'm guessing it's not old as it seems to be in good shape), material, or anything else you might be able to tell me about it, or where I could get that information.

What I'm most interested in: Is it going to cost me more to send it, than it's worth? If it's valuable how much should I insure it for (for shipping and in the final home).

I meant to re-read and add a thanks in advance before posting.

Your rug is of pretty good quality. It is handknotted, made of wool (pile) and Cotton (foundation). Production Country is India using Patterns from Iran (mixed from Sarouk, Kashan, Tabriz and so on). Value for private to private sale would be around 500 - 600 USD.

Thanks KAD.

Looks like I'll send it off to her as soon as we're packed.

Cheers,
Matt
