I wanted to consolidate my rugs into one thread, as I am extremely happy to have made these purchases. I feel like it is important, being here in Afghanistan, to take home a piece of Afghanistan with me. I figured the best way to do this was through their rugs. I have bought my large Ayna Gol (Kunduz produced 6x9 ft) which is about 25 years old, a 65 year old runner (13x2.5), another new runner which I know nothing about it but has bold colors (12x2.5 ft), and a new Kilim from Herat (4x6).
Personally, I feel like the large Ayna Gol is the most beautiful rug I have purchased. I liked how it still had red, but the boldness was broken through all of the colors of the rainbow. My husband sent a picture of my German Sheperd, Helen, modeling the rug for me. It seems like they all gave it their approval.

I asked about my old runner in another post and it seems like I got my money's worth. But I know it will be perfect in our hallway. I can't wait to get back to the states so I can see it with my own two eyes.

Then I have this runner, which I know nothing about. The bold colors and lines stood out to me and it was the first rug I purchased. Any feedback about it would be appreciated.

Finally I purchased a Kilim for my guest bedroom. I just throught it was pretty...and like all the rest, I had to buy it.

So if you like any of my rugs, have any feedback, thoughts etc, pass them my way! Like I said before, I was really happy to make each of these purchases as I have built a solid relationship with the shop owners. Tomorrow we will have tea, watch some afghani TV (and I don't know any Arabic), and just shoot the breeze. These rugs will remind me of a positive time in Afghanistan, its heritage, and the kindness of their culture.
