We bought a rug on Craigslist a while back and had it in storage for about a year. We don't know much about it but we would love to learn. I took 4 pictures to give you an idea. The tag on the back suggests it is from Morocco and made around 1970. It seems that the pile on the border is much thicker than in the blue area in the middle. Not sure if that is from uneven wear or by design. Where was it made? Is it a well known style? Should we have it cleaned? What is it worth? Pics are here: http://imgur.com/a/cW4W4
Thank you.

Your rug is from Morocco. The origin is RABAT. Typical is the foundation of cotton and a high flushy pile. Rabat rugs are often sold as "Kings Carpet" in Morocco. They are usually of good durable quality. Age is difficult to tell since these designs are made since the 1960`s until today without great changes.
