I bought this rug in Saudi Arabia 20+ years ago for $1200 and can't find out anything about it other then it's a Hereke column rug with tree-of-life motif.

It is 2'2" by 3'3" and in excellent condition, Silk on Silk I believe with very nice gold thread or gold colored thread.

I am trying to find the value and age. I live in Montana and don't have access to an appraiser.

Any help would be wonderful.

Cheers,

Many of these hereke mats were made in turkey in the 1980s and at the time (strong economy) were selling like hotcakes from 2500-3500...silk on silk with gold thread highlights...VERY classy and awesome rugs...the negative today is the combination that MANY more were woven than originally believed and the weak economy of today and the fact people who are willing to buy an oriental rug generally in this economy want a rug they can walk on rather than hang like a painting. current price i would expect that rug to sell for today would be $1000. if the economy ever comes back maybe $2000. Never probably above that due to the fact many were woven.
