Hallo, after writing a longer introduction i was kicked out by the software...

OK, i try it again for the beginning with a short question:

Where is this colourful 1,80mx1m rug from (caucasian, cuban, daghestan, turkish...) and how old is it?

I know its nothing special, but i couldnt find a similar one in several rug books in my shelf. My daughter loves to have it in her room Angel

Kind Regards and many thanks from a new member,
egmont

To solve it at least:
Its an older Cuban or Shirvan rug.

Thanks for watching,

What is the story on this piece? Where was it acquired, what information do you have on it?

Hello,

i rescued this rug few years ago when the mother of my stepfather died here in Berlin and we had to clear the household. I do not know, for how long it was there in the attic; at least it was moth free!

Aprox. in the center is an old repair -quite well and professional done- but you can see the different brown tone.

Beside the loose part at one side, it is in real nice condition. No visible sign of `walking` or furniture; i guess it must have been a wall carpet.

Because of its friendly colours and simple motives it fits very nice in my daughters room. It even influenced her painting style. ;-)

Best, egmont

That is very sweet about influencing her painting. I don't believe it is super old, although it certainly embodies old style and old world charm. I would guess Turkish revival piece circa 1950's?

Thanks RugPro!

That means it is REAL old...at least for my daughter.
I rekon it must be the bordure which shows the turkish origin. The collector who told me its a shirvan/cuban mentioned and recognised the colourful geometric patterns only

And your expertise make even more sense; we have a large and strong turkish/kurdish community here in our city...

best, egmont
