This rug, for sale locally, appears to be an "American Sarouk," i.e. a painted Sarouk made for the American market. The seller claims it was made in the 1920's. It looks to me like other American Sarouks of that era and appears to be in good condition. What is a reasonable price for this on the private market? The seller is asking $1200.
thanks in advance!

To me it looks more 1930, but rug is very nice. Typical design and color. If it is as good as it looks on the pictures (full pile, no dry or rotten areas, original selvedge and fringes) it is very fair priced. If you can get it at a lower price - fine. But 1200$ for a rug this quaity is very ok.
