Need help with rug size ASAP

I would be much appreciated if someone could help me with properly sizing a rug for my room. I have never bought a rug before and am not even sure how to best size one for my room.

This is a quick rendering I did with my layout, and a 6 x 9 carpet. It is approximate so not exact but that is about how it would sit going under the front portion of the sofa on each side.


Does that seem like it would be the correct size to go with? The front of the sofa is curved so I don't think stopping short of the would look right.

To keep optical balance between the size of you sofa and the size of the rug I would recommend a 10 x 8. have the borders be wider than the edge of your seating furniture.
