I bought this rug at a flea market from a guy who purchased it as a lot from a storage facility (the original owner of the lot was a rug collector in Afghanistan). The colors are rich and deep with small spots of bright, vibrant colors, and it has several different textures (not just your typical fuzzy rug) and really cool patterns. Maybe it's more of a blanket than a rug? It has a seam down the center where it almost looks like two rugs have been woven together yet the patterns go together as a whole. The seam has unraveled a bit at one end, some fringe is missing and the edge has come undone in one spot. I'd consider having it repaired but a rug vendor at the flea market cautioned me to have it appraised first because he felt it "could be quite old" and repairs may effect its value (supposing it has any). It's wool, 5' wide and 9' 4" long without fringe. Anybody know where this is from? How old is it? Does it have value (beyond looking great on my floor)? I appreciate any/all input.
