It is a garage sale season. So last weekend I got this rug for $2.99. I liked the colors and the size was perfect. I had no doubt it was machine-made sinthetic rug. Mostly because of the price and condition (nearly perfect, except some fridges are broken. But then I found your website and started to question the id of it (I burned a fiber from it - the face has lots of longer pieces, and it seems not being sinthetic). I did not buy for the value, I just liked it, but would definatly love to know a bit more about it. Thank you! It was super dirty, I washed it once, but it looks like it need another bath. IF (to my great surprise) it is something worth more than $2.99, how should I clean it?

First four pictures are the ones you require for id and the last one is with some imerfections on a rag (there are more).

Looks like a Chinese hand-knotted Kashan style rug. Will need a close-up photo of the pile to confirm if this is wool, in which case follow the cleaning instructions on this website.

What garage sales do you go to? Definitely handmade, looks like it could be wool and silk but it's hard to tell from the pictures.

It is chinese with persian design. These rugs are of very good quality. It is no hidden treasure, but for sure worth more than 2.99$. If you give your rug into the hands of a rug washing pro, you will be surpised how good it turns out. Washing rugs at home is possible, but the result is far from what a pro get get out of a dirty rug.
