well the person who said this is an "american sarouk" I would say is half right. This is what would be called a Mohajeran Sarouk, which is a little earlier. Age placement on this rug would be 1915-1925 I would guess. tough to tell without looking at it. on ebay this could get a couple bucks, but I wouldn't expect anything over a hundred bucks plus whatever "shipping and handling" cost game people play.
Really is a pretty piece, if it were in really nice shape, this would be a very expensive carpet. Of course, wear and tear of oriental rugs can turn an otherwise "priceless" carpet into a yard sale special in no time. Again, very pretty piece, it is hand knotted, don't do anything to alter it, sell it as is if that's your intention, and best of luck.
