Large silk Qom - Please help translating signature and approx. value.

Hi,

I am considering purchasing this 100% silk Qom. Can you please translate the signature and give an approximate value. The kspi is about 625 by my count, but I have included a picture of the back with coin. The size is 6'6"x10'.

Based on my expert analysis, I would say this is a pretty nice rug. It looks to be new. The signature says Qum Rahim. The KPSI appears to be between 550 and 650. I haven't seen many Qom rugs of this size with this much detail. While there seems to be a few smaller Qoms still available, Qoms of this size and quality are harder to find. Having said that, I would place the value somewhere between $20,000 to $25,000.

This is a Persian silk rug made not exactly in Quom but with a Quom "Gonbad" design, cotton foundation and silk pile. The sign reds: Iran-Quom_Rahimi. This is a regular signature not belonging to one of the more famous weavers. I personally like the pattern and the color combination regardless of the KPSI. I think there has been way too much emphasis on KPSI rather than the overall harmony in pattern and colors. I would say $12000-$15000 would be a fair price for a private user.
