I have just been shown a Hereke rug about 5x3 feet. The name is woven in black thread on a red border. The script appears to be Arabic although it could also be Turkish. It looks silk on silk with gold thread. The silk pile stands proud of the gold thread. The fringe is quite long compared to the Qum silks I have in my collection. The not count appears high at a glance, I would say in the order of 550-600 kpsi. The rug design is decorated with birds, rabbits and other creatures. Limited information, I know, and no photographs, but any idea what this might be worth? I am not personally thinking about buying it.
Thanks.
