floating border kermans are a tough sell. if it were cleaned perhaps $2000 would not be an unfair private party asking price to get what you can from it. At an online auction it may get $800. The look of this rug with exception to the border are what people are looking for on the decorative market.

you are wise to have it cleaned before shipping and storage. Wrapping storage and cleaning should be approximately $300 - 400 USD at most. make sure you take photos of the rug after cleaning & before storage just so you have them. The wash tag on the carpet shows information as to who it was sold through. You will want photos of this before cleaning - I know someone who has documentation of what some of the abbreviations stand for, so you can probably find out who imported the carpet.

Persian Kerman semi antique rug - most people won't know what the floating border means. 60-70 years is just about right so that makes it a semi-antique. Accurate age id is important as post 1960 these rugs became heavily commercialized. Knot density is not particularly important, but it is good to know.
