I like this rug, but is it worth the price? I can go back and take further pictures if these do not provide what is needed. I am the first to admit I know nothing at all about Persian/Oriental rugs. I don't mind paying the price if the quality is good, but don't want to get ripped off. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Nancy

From the pictures, this looks like a Chinese rug with a Persian pattern, handmade with a cotton foundation and a wool pile. The price, if it is what is printed on the tag, is a bargain. Buy and enjoy it.

Hi Rugfirm - Thanks for the info. I've been able to gather a little further information from others on this carpet. The opinion is that it is a hand-knotted rug. It's not Persian, which I expected. And it is thought to be fairly new (8 or less years). I went back to the store and took a couple more pics which I'm attaching. I noticed that there are blue marks every so often on the edge of the underside of the carpet. One person suggested that these were used for different purposes. Sometimes to track quality, progress on the loom, divide sections to different weavers. Most commonly they are consistently in 12" increments, and are used for purposes of measure.

I have a 15% off coupon, which would make the price about just under $1100. Based on your email, it sounds like a good value. Anyone else want to weigh in???

A couple of things I forgot to mention - The blue marks can be seen in carpet7.jpg. Also forgot to mention that there is no tag or country-of-origin label I can see other than a paper tag stapled to the back. I have no idea what this tag means/represents. This is visible in carpet5.jpg. So, anyone else have an opinion on if $1100 - $1285 is a fair price for this rug? Thanks.
