This rug appears to be a hand-knotted Qom from the city of Qom, Iran. You can tell from the craftsmanship and the distinct turquise-ish blue color. Qom weavers take orders and can make anything, including your own photo on a rug if you wish. My thoughts are that someone of the Greek Orthodox faith brought a photo or painting to the weavers and had this made. It would be very tough to put a value on something like this because it is such an unusual design with a small demand for it.
