Hello, it's been a long time since i've been to the forum...

Seller states it's a 1920s, antique sarouk, approximately 4'6" x 6'6" and asking $350...

So, what does the forum think?

I very much look forward to your reply!

Very nice rug, seems to be in good condition, all edges look good, fringes need little work. Pre 1920 in my opinion. If the standart checks (dry areas, animal urin) say ok, it is a great rug for a very fair price.

An old, beautiful Persian Sarouk, easily worth the price, even if it needs some repair work.

Okay, i received the rug and updated the photos as shown above. so, upon further review, I see there is in fact a 1" (inch) long rip in the center of the rug, but other than that, it seems pretty good...I've included photos showing the front and back of the rip for clarity (which hopefully you can see). obviously this affects value, but how much??? after shipping, i paid a total of $280...so, with a professional washing and repair, did i spend too much??? i think it is quite attractive and goes well with my other pieces, so that is good, but did i pay too much...is the hole catastrophic???

please let me know...thanks again as always, especially to KAD and Rugfrim...

...and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year to you and all our friends here in the forum.

Don`t worry - be happy! You bought a real nice rug, the overall condition seems to be very good, the hole is no problem at all! A professional restorator can fix this with very little cost. The fringes need some work anyway, and a wash is a must before using a used rug from hygienic view and optical reasons.
