I'm looking at purchasing two rugs on Tuesday and am hoping you guys can help me get a rough estimate of their value.

First off, both rugs are 100% silk and pass the burn test. They are both new so they don't have any years to them yet.

Rug 1 is 2 meters by 3 meters, very flexible and folds up tightly. It looks to have about a 500-600 kpsi count as well. The seller is offering the rug for $5,000 dollars.

Rug 2 is around 1 meter by 1 1/2 - 2 meters, very flexible and folds up tight as well. This one appeared to be around a 700-800 kpsi count. The seller is offering this rug at $1,000 if purchased with the larger rug.

I've attached photos of both. Please let me know what you all fell might be an estimated value for them, or at a minimum, let me know if you think the prices being offered are a good deal or overpriced. Again, I go back on Tuesday to discuss the purchase on Tuesday morning so any help before then would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

These are good looking silk rugs with silk warp and cotton weft, but they are Persian Zanjan rugs. Although they are bought and sold as Quom (because they are pure silk), a genuine Quom would be somewhat finer. None of them has a signature either. As for the prices, they are reasonable though not a steal.

My opinion - both are Kashmir silk rug. What country are you buying in?

I double checked on the first rug and it is a Kashmir rug made in India. I'm buying in Afghanistan.

They are both Kashmit silk. Also size seems to be not correct. The larger is about 175 cm x 275 cm (approx. from my eye measureing) the smaller about 160 x 90 cm. For Afghanistan I think there is still some room left for speaking about the price. Both are nice rugs.

Does $5,000 seem like a fair price though? I'm still undecided if I want to buy it for personal use or as an investment oppurtunity. If I can't get about $10,000 back out of it there's a good chance I probably won't invest in it.

On another note, I do have a Qum Persian about the same size as the small rug. It's got the signature and everything on it. Probably one of the most beautiful rugs i've seen in the past 9 months of looking through rugs. I'll post pictures soon.

I don´t think you will be able to get $10000 for them in US, but this is better answered by a US dealer. I am sure you will not get it in Germany as a private seller.
