I bought this rug used from a friend in Washington state in 2003. The rug was already old(er), tired, and much abused, but I needed a rug...After learning so much on this fantastic web site, I decided to take a closer look at this poor thing. I'm attaching 4 pictures to help you all identify the pattern and help me figure out if it's hand-knotted, where it was made, about how old it might be, etc. The rug is 12'7" x 10'7" and in one corner the fringe is unraveling from the body. I can't tell if it's just old or dirty, if the "brick brown" is the original color or if it was tea-washed. Thanks in advance for your help.

This is a machine made rug with synthetic fibers in the foundation as well as the pile. I think it is made in Belguim, but I could be mistaken. I am sure you realize that machine made rugs do not have a resell value, so I do not think you would be able to get more than $100-150 for it if you were to sell the rug. Also, it is not worth spending money on fringe repairs. I recommend you just keep using it the way it is.
