Hello Everyone,

I received this rug from my a member of my family that passed away in NYC. She was not wealthy so I doubt it's an expensive item, but I do want to sell it and I would like your advice. To be honest I am only guessing it is hand made. I just want to be able to tell a prospective buyer a little about it and have a ballpark amount to sell it, or if it is even worth selling at all. Thanks for your input.

I notice that the weave seems to be tighter in one area making the rug not a perfect rectangle, in other words the sides come in closer. You should be able to see it in the photo.

This is a Persian Hamadan runner about 50 years old with a cotton foundation and wool pile. Specially when they are used on a wall-to-wall carpet, they tend to get a bit crooked in places where they received the most traffic. So it does not have anything to do with the weave itself. Humidity can also cause these rugs to develope bubbles and get crooked. If you find a private buyer for it, you could ask for $200-250 if the rug has no repairs, no damages, and no worn spots.
