What do I have? I inherited two what appear to be Chinese oriental rugs. Both are room size approx. 8'7" wide by 11'6" long. They are solid color, a light fawn, with a hand carved Peonie in alternate corners. The bill of sale I have says they were purchased in Hong Kong in early 1952. They do have a fringe attached, and it appears to be hand done. The backing appears to be jute, and the main rug yarn looks to be a silk wool blend. Haven't counted the knots per inch.
