Hello forum,

Seller state it's a 1920s antique sarouk mat (2x4') with a quarter-size hole and asking $100. so what does the forum think??? i realize there is a hole that'll need to be fixed, which might cost a hunderd, but after that it's in pretty good shape and complete...

what are your thoughts...would you buy and fix???

are you buying for yourself or to resell? I know nothing about these rugs, but I do know repairs can be costly (unless you do it yourself:)

To me it looks more like 1950 (the bright green in the flower design! picture 2). But still a nice rug. I think the repair will be more than a hundred if done in pro quality.

Fred/KAD, thanks for the reply; I just updated some photos so please let me know if this changes anything. Fred, I would buy for personal use and would have it done professionally. KAD, so if it's 1950s, it's not as desirable, but i still think it's nice...and I guess if the repair gets too expensive, than maybe it's not a good deal, but if i bought it for $100 and put $200 in to repair and clean, is that too much???? what would you do???? Also, i just listed another rug; please take a look...it's from the same seller...

It is a very nice rug, and if you have someone who can fix it for 200, it is absolutely ok. If you buy it, and cost of repair would be higher, I think it is no problem to sell it again for 100. It seems to be in very good condition except for the shown defect.

If you can have it professionally repaired for $200, it's still a good deal. I think a real good repair will cost you a bit more than that, but this is a beautiful Sarouk.
