I was very excited to come across this forum...the information here is amazing!
Anyway, I recently acquired this rug as payment for some work I did for a very wealthy couple, and I'm very anxious/nervous/excited to find out where this rug came from, what kind it is, and especially, the value that I could sell it to a dealer or private party for.
The owner mentioned that she purchased it at a high end auction, and that it is from the 1940's (not sure if that's true or not??)
It's a beautiful rug obviously, but as I live in an apartment, I have no use for it. I would much rather be able to sell it somewhat quickly and get a decent amount for it. If I had a larger dwelling, I'd seriously consider keeping it. The detail is just amazing! (In my opinion)
I'm sorry that I'm not able to get a picture of it fully laid out, it's quite large (about 10ft 2in x 14ft). Hopefully the other pictures will help identify it.
Also, it has a few stains, but nothing too serious. The only major thing is that it appears one whole side of the fringe was cut off and re-sewn on at some point. The other side's fringe is original.
Any insights as to origin and value would be GREATLY appreciated! And realistically, would I be able to sell it to someone? And where?
