Hi there,

I would be very much grateful if you could identify and value my rug. I think it is Persian. It has been passed down my family and it was purchased from someone between 1920-1930's. So I know it is at least 80 years old, but I am not sure how long the previous owner had it for, so it could well be older than 80 years. It seems to be made of wool.

The measurements are 6 feet 5 inches X 4 feet 4 inches.

I really would like to know as much detail as possible about this rug, such as the area of Persia it is from and a valuation.

Thank you so much.

This is an old Persian "Tafresh" which is a small city in central province near the Arak weaving area. Tafresh rugs are structurally in Hamadan group with a thicker pile and softer wool. From the pictures, I see some minor damages on this piece, and it has negative effects on the value. The way it is now, a fair market value would be $250-300, but a Tafresh of this size in perfect condition could go up to a couple of thousand dollars.
